SmartShares
Platform: All (Must have headpone output) Manufacturer: Griffin Manufacturer Site: SmartShares
Product Overview:
The SmartShare headphone splitters are great for sharing your music with a friend or family member. The SmartShares by Griffin has a sleek design. The SmartShares appear to be quite durable as well. The SmartShares also have very clear quality sound with little, if any extra static.
The design itself is plain, but when compared to other splitters on the market it stands out as being the most stylish of the bunch. The SmartShares are black with gray accents. The volume control is a dark gray. Their sleek design and built in volume control gives them a futuristic look.
The SmartShares are very durable with very thick, strong wires. They seem like they could last through years of wear and tear. The exception is the volume control. The volume control slides far too easily and seem to be made of cheap materials. This is the only cheap part on these splitters.
Continuing with the volume control, these splitters come with dual controls. This allows both people using them to have their own volume control. The separate volume controls really come in handy if you prefer a different volume setting then your friend. An example would be me and my sister, I prefer my volume to be loud enough to hear but still at a level where I can hear others talking. My sister, on the other hand, just wants the sound as loud as possible (Which could be why she can't hear now.)
The SmartShares do not appear to drain much more power than the average headphones. This is a major plus if your MP3 player is powered by nonchargeable batteries. The SmartShares can be used in any device with a headphone input. This fact is important because this allows you to use the SmartShares in your car, portable DVD player, laptop and more. In fact I used the SmartShares more in my portable DVD player than in my iPod.
