The iFM PSP
Manufacturer: Griffin Manufacturer Site: iFM PSP
Product Overview:
The iFM for the PSP system will set you back only 50.00 dollars but if you are a big FM radio fan it is well worth the money. The iFM is a small accessory which can pick-up radio broadcasts as well as serve as a decent remote with the flip of a switch. The iFM also has a belt clip on the back for listening on the go.
NO BATTERIES! Yes that is right the iFM requires absolutely no batteries since it draws power directly from your PSP. Do not worry though the iFM does not take too much of your precious PSP battery. This brings up the question, why we can not listen to FM radio through the PSP's built-in speakers.
The iFM is great at picking up radio stations with crystal clear clarity. The iFM also has an LCD to display just hat station you happen to be listening to at any time. You can switch between one of three FM listening modes these include US, International, and Japanese FM standards though if you are using the wrong one you will most likely get no signal or a very bad one.
Now onto the not so good things about the iFM. The iFM has about 3 feet of cord add this to just how long your headphones are (mine are pretty long) and you get a whopping instance between 6-8 feet! This can be good if you like to keep your PSP on your backpack on the way to school otherwise it is outright annoying. We also had a slight problem that if you were to touch the iFM's cord it would affect the signal strength not much but enough to be outright annoying. Finally you have the problem of the iFM not responding once your PSP goes into sleep mode.
Pluses:
- Both a FM receiver and a remote
- Clear signal most of the time
- NO batteries
- Really long cord
- Stops responding once PSP falls to sleep
- Touching the iFM's cord affects signal clarity
